Jesus Didn’t Come to Make Christians. He Came to Make Disciples.

By Daniel Jerkins, Senior Pastor

Before followers of Jesus became known as Christians in Acts 11, Christians were simply known as disciples. A disciple is one who trusts in a teacher and follows that teacher’s words and example. Being a disciple of Jesus Christ means trusting in Him and following His teaching which results in a relationship with Him.

2 Timothy‬ ‭3‬:‭16‬-‭17‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬ says, “All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”

Our desire for 2023 is that every member of our church be challenged to be a true disciple of Jesus through studying the Word of God through a daily devotion time. We believe the best way to do this is through DGroups. DGroups are discipleship groups of 3-5 people of the same gender who read the Bible together, discuss it, and meet regularly to encourage and pray for each other. DGroups are so important because they are a catalyst for transforming Christians into disciples. Through study, encouragement, and accountability in a DGroup, you can begin to fulfill the calling on your life to truly follow Jesus.

As we study the Word of God, the Lord molds us to be more and more like Jesus, and the more like Jesus we become, the more we will make disciples just like Jesus did. So, studying Scripture leads to spiritual growth and spiritual growth leads to making disciples. This is what we call biblical multiplication.

Our theme for 2023 is MULTIPLY. Will you join with us as we read the Bible together through DGroups?
